Short answer

Bandai lists a $4.99 MSRP for every Gundam Card Game booster pack that has a price. Packs from GD01 to GD04 hold 12+1 cards; the pages for GD05, GD06, GD07 and the extra booster EB01 list 12. Bandai's official product list shows no booster box, so a box price and pack count has to come from the seller's label.

Choose this if

Choose the other option if

Buy booster packs once you have a deck and want more cards, and track every pack in GunTomo as you scan.

How many cards are in a booster pack

The size depends on the set. Bandai's product pages list 1 pack as 12+1 cards for Newtype Rising [GD01], Dual Impact [GD02], Steel Requiem [GD03] and Phantom Aria [GD04]. They list 1 pack as 12 cards for Eternal Nexus [EB01], Freedom Ascension [GD05], Stardust Trails [GD06] and Blazing Fist [GD07].

The pages do not say what the extra card in a 12+1 pack is, so check the set page before you assume. The set pages also give each set's card count. Our pull rates guide explains why those counts are not odds, and our rarity guide explains the marks on the cards.

What a pack costs

Bandai's product pages show a $4.99 MSRP for the booster packs GD01 to GD06 and for EB01 (the main product list still shows a dash for GD06). MSRP is the suggested retail price, and stores can charge more or less. The page for Blazing Fist [GD07] gives no price yet.

Our own arithmetic: at $4.99, a 12-card pack comes to about 42 cents a card, and a 13-card pack to about 38 cents. That is the price of the pack divided by its cards, not the value of what is inside, because most cards in a pack are Common and a few are worth much more.

Every booster set in release order

Dates and pack sizes come from each product page on the official site.

  • Newtype Rising [GD01]: July 25, 2025, 12+1 cards
  • Dual Impact [GD02]: October 24, 2025, 12+1 cards
  • Steel Requiem [GD03]: January 30, 2026, 12+1 cards
  • Phantom Aria [GD04]: April 24, 2026, 12+1 cards
  • Eternal Nexus [EB01], an extra booster made with the SD Gundam G Generation Eternal game: June 26, 2026, 12 cards
  • Freedom Ascension [GD05], the first anniversary set: July 24, 2026, 12 cards
  • Stardust Trails [GD06]: October 30, 2026, 12 cards
  • Blazing Fist [GD07]: January 29, 2027, 12 cards

What about boxes and bundles

Bandai's official product list names booster packs, starter decks, accessories and collections. It does not list a booster box or say how many packs one holds. We found no official box count, so do not trust one you cannot trace to the box itself or the seller's listing.

Our own method for box math: divide the box price by the packs printed on the label, then compare that with $4.99. The official list does include two bundles. Special Booster Bundle 01 [EVX09], listed at $55.00 on June 30, 2026, contains 1 card case, 1 EX Base and 3 GD05 booster packs. Three packs at $4.99 come to $14.97, so most of that price pays for the case and the EX Base. Deck Build Box Freedom Ascension [SC01] is listed at $39.99 for July 24, 2026; its page was not available when we checked, so we cannot say what it contains.

What to buy first

This is our own advice. If you are new, start with a starter deck from a series you like and learn to play it; our starter decks guide compares the first four. Then add a few packs of the newest set to improve that deck. Buying a box or many packs before you know your colors mostly gives you cards you will not play.

If you collect rather than play, pick one set and open packs from it. Write down what you open and how many packs it took, so you know how your own packs behaved over time.

Reading the set pages before you buy

Freedom Ascension [GD05] is the first set whose page lists a 12-card pack in the main booster line, and the page presents it as the celebration of the game's first anniversary. It introduces the Link Rare rarity, which Bandai says appears as parallel versions of cards in the set, plus SP Card EX Resources, eight Pilot SP cards and a record five types of LR++.

That is why two packs from the same game can hold different amounts of chase cards on paper. The official page gives the design list for the set, and it gives no odds. For the practical effect on your money, our pull rates guide is the place to start.

These steps are our own. Match the set code on the pack, such as GD05, to the official page for that code. Read the pack size and the MSRP on that page, then compare them with the seller's price. A pack priced far above $4.99 may reflect demand or scarcity for a new set, or it may simply be a high price.

Starter decks also contain a bonus pack, as the page for Generation Pulse [ST10] shows, so a deck is a cheap way to get one extra pack with a playable list. Release dates on the list can change, so recheck a date before you plan a trip to a store.
